Hiba Mikhail

Hiba Mikhail, a humanitarian practitioner and legal and policy advisor

Mikhail is a senior humanitarian practitioner and legal and policy advisor with more than 12 years of experience across Lebanon and the MENA region. She currently serves as Geneva Call’s Country Director for Lebanon, where she leads engagement with armed groups and de facto authorities, civil society organizations, and community actors to promote the protection of civilians and humanitarian norms.

Throughout her career, she has worked to foster principled dialogue in conflict-affected settings, with a particular focus on community protection. As a trainer and facilitator, she has designed and delivered programmes on humanitarian engagement, international humanitarian law, and international human rights law for armed groups and de facto authorities, humanitarian organizations, civil society organizations, and community stakeholders across the region.

Mikhail is also the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of CIRCL, a social enterprise that works with municipalities and communities to establish sustainable environmental systems. Through this work, she promotes community resilience and locally led approaches to addressing environmental challenges that intersect with social tensions and fragility.

She is committed to community-led approaches that strengthen local ownership and support the meaningful participation of women in peacebuilding and protection processes.
