Fatima Abdulwahed, a humanitarian and peacebuilding specialist

Abdulwahed is a project manager with more than nine years of experience in protection, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and peacebuilding. She has managed the full project cycle for both international and local humanitarian organizations, from strategic design and fundraising to implementation, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning, with a strong focus on community-centered programming.

She has extensive experience integrating gender and protection principles into humanitarian action. Her expertise includes gender-based violence (GBV), gender in humanitarian action (GiHA), prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), child protection and safeguarding, safe identification and referral, and community-based MHPSS. She has also supported crisis-affected populations through approaches such as Psychological First Aid (PFA), Problem Management Plus (PM+), and the WHO Mental Health Gap Action Programme.

A dedicated trainer and capacity builder, Abdulwahed has designed and delivered training programmes on gender integration, child protection, PSEA, life skills for adolescent girls, and the prevention of violent extremism. Her technical expertise also includes proposal development, grant management, budgeting, risk management, accountability, and human-centered programme design.

She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social and Medical Work from the Lebanese University, as well as a Master’s degree in Education Administration and Management from the Islamic University.
