Christelle Baraket

Christelle Barakat, a public policy researcher and peace and conflict specialist

Barakat is a researcher in public policy at the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies and an incoming Schwarzman Scholar. Her work and academic interests focus on conflict analysis and resolution, disarmament, migration and refugee studies, and women and gender studies.

She holds a Master of Arts in Peace and Conflict Studies, with a concentration in International Peace Development, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a Fulbright Foreign Student Program graduate (Class of 2022). She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Affairs with high distinction from the Lebanese American University (Class of 2020), where she was part of the Honors Program and completed minors in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, Gender Studies, and Legal Studies.

Barakat is an Emerging Expert with the Forum on the Arms Trade, an Atomic Anxiety in the New Nuclear Age Fellow, and serves on the advisory board of BASIC EVN. Over the years, she has been selected for several international leadership programmes, including Youth Leader for a World Without Nuclear Weapons, Leader to the Future, Leader for Tomorrow, and Youth Champion for Disarmament with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA).
